BrightTALK Taken Offline in Security Precaution; Platform Expected to Return December 22

BrightTALK, the webinar and virtual‑event platform relied on by millions of technology and business professionals, has been offline for roughly 48 hours following what the company describes as a precautionary security action. The outage has temporarily cut off access to more than 100,000 webinars and videos and disrupted activity for BrightTALK’s 8 million registered users.

In a direct message to customers, BrightTALK’s support team stated:
“As a precautionary measure to ensure the security and integrity of our BrightTALK platform, we have temporarily taken the platform offline. Normal service will be resumed Monday December 22, 2025 at 8am GMT.”

No public announcement has been posted on BrightTALK’s website or social channels, leaving many organizations to rely on private communications for updates. The downtime arrives during one of the busiest periods of the year for B2B marketers, cybersecurity vendors, and technology communities that depend on BrightTALK for live webinars, lead‑generation programs, and on‑demand content distribution.

BrightTALK has long been a major player in the enterprise webinar ecosystem. The company was acquired by TechTarget in 2020, expanding TechTarget’s intent‑data capabilities and adding BrightTALK’s large opt‑in audience. In 2024, Informa combined its digital businesses with TechTarget, bringing BrightTALK under an even larger global B2B data and events umbrella.

While BrightTALK has not disclosed the specific nature of the security concern, the outage follows recent attention to vulnerabilities in the BrightTALK WordPress shortcode plugin (CVE‑2025‑11770). There is no confirmed connection between that plugin issue and the current platform‑wide shutdown.

As of Friday evening, BrightTALK’s main site, webinar channels, and embedded player infrastructure remain inaccessible. Organizations with events scheduled before December 22 may need to postpone or temporarily migrate to alternative platforms until service is restored.

IT GRC Forum webinars are hosted on the BrightTALK platform. During this outage, our BrightTALK channel will be temporarily unavailable. However, we have local versions of our most recent and upcoming programs available here, ensuring uninterrupted access for our community.
