Swift Names Michael Manos as New CIO
Swift has appointed Michael Manos as its new Chief Information Officer, tasking him with steering the organisation’s global technology strategy at a time of rapid change across the financial ecosystem.
Manos will oversee the resilience, security and evolution of Swift’s platform — the backbone through which 11,500 institutions move value equal to the world’s GDP every three days — while advancing work on post‑quantum cryptography, frontier AI and next‑generation cryptographic standards.
Manos joins from Dun & Bradstreet, where he served as Chief Technology Officer, bringing more than three decades of experience leading large‑scale technology operations at firms including Fiserv, AOL and Microsoft. His background spans infrastructure, automation and the development of major payments, banking and e‑commerce platforms. He succeeds Cheri McGuire, who is retiring after serving as CTO since 2021.
Swift CEO Javier Pérez‑Tasso said Manos’ leadership will be central to strengthening the organisation’s resilience and security as it embraces digital innovation. Manos said Swift’s role at the core of the global financial system — and its reputation for security and reliability — made the opportunity compelling, adding that he looks forward to supporting the secure introduction of regulated digital value into the ecosystem.
