Tanium Unveils New Autonomous Security Capabilities Across Its Autonomous IT Platform
Tanium has announced a broad set of autonomous security capabilities across the Tanium Autonomous IT Platform, aimed at helping IT and security teams keep pace with an AI‑accelerated threat landscape. The enhancements span agentic AI, exposure management, and security operations, giving operators the ability to detect, decide, and remediate at machine speed while maintaining governance and control.
CTO Harman Kaur said the new capabilities extend Tanium Atlas—the platform’s autonomous operating system—across the full lifecycle of exposure, detection, and remediation. As organizations deploy more identities, cloud services, and AI tooling, attackers are using the same AI to move faster than traditional defenses can respond. Tanium’s approach provides a unified, governed system that reasons over real‑time endpoint data and acts autonomously within operator‑defined boundaries.
New Atlas features include Agentic Performance Analysis, which traces slow machines to root causes in moments; Background AI Agents that surface issues and execute alert‑to‑resolution workflows automatically; expanded Tanium Automate capabilities for faster endpoint‑level execution and API‑driven integrations; and the Tanium Atlas MCP Server, which exposes approved Tanium actions to AI clients like Claude, Microsoft Security Copilot, and Copilot Studio.
In exposure management, Tanium introduced External Attack Surface Management, combining Censys internet‑facing visibility with endpoint intelligence for a unified view of an organization’s attack surface. Attack Path Mapping shows the exact chain an attacker could follow from an exposed asset to sensitive systems, enabling teams to prioritize fixes that shut down the most impactful routes.
For security operations, Tanium added Agent‑Guided Threat Hunting, allowing hunters to describe hypotheses in plain language while Atlas autonomously runs hunts across the estate and maps findings to MITRE ATT&CK. A new integration with Google Threat Intelligence brings Mandiant expertise, VirusTotal data, and Google’s global visibility into Tanium’s real‑time endpoint telemetry, helping analysts validate signals and move from intel to remediation quickly.
